Wanda Petronski is a Polish girl featuring in the children`s book Hundred Dresses written by Eleanor Estes in 1944. The book narrates Wanda`s  school days in Connecticut, USA where she was mocked by other children.

Wanda used to sit next to the last seat, in the last row of room thirteen. She used to sit at the corner of the room which was marked for those boys who did not score well in studies.

Wanda came from a poor family and stayed in an immigrant colony. She  was often seen engrossed in her own world which made her a quiet person. She did not like to mingle with anyone and kept herself away from other girls. Her feet would often remained dirty and caked with mud.

In order to avoid been laughed by other children she choose to sit in the last seat and hide her feet from others
