In eukaryotes DNA is generally memberane bound. Hence in eukaryotes it is found within the nucleus, mitochondria (animal cell) and plastids (chloroplasts, plant cells). In prokaryotes, DNA is in the cytoplasm (technically the DNA is not memberane bound but found floating in a region called nucleoid).
