Four players of the Women Wrestling Academy at Geetanjali Senior Secondary School, Guru Sadan, at Badwasni village in the district were accorded a warm welcome in Sonepat town on Tuesday on their arrival after winning two gold and a silver medal in the Asiad Under-23 Women’s Wrestling Championship, which concluded at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on March 24.
According to academy’s wrestling coach Randhir Singh, Teena won a gold in the 65-kg category and Naina in the 72-kg category. Reena won a silver medal in the 53-kg category.
Narender Sura, chairman of the institute, said the wrestlers would be sent to Japan for special training so that they could give a medal-winning performance in the Olympics.
