Outside India, it is found in easternBangladesh and north-west Myanmar. The eastern hoolock gibbon inhabits specific pockets of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India, and southern China and north-east Myanmar.

Hoolock gibbon species is found in the pockets of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India.

Mainly in the Brahmaputra river and east of Dibang rivers covering Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, and Tripura. It is the state animal of Arunachal Pradesh.

The hoolock gibbons are the three monkey species belongs to gibbon family of genus Hoolock.
