What climatic conditions are responsible for its formation ? Laterite soils are formed by 'Leaching'. Leaching is a process in which the nutrients of the soil get percolated down below the soil due to heavy rainfall, leaving behind the top soil infertile.

Laterial soil found in higher areas of peninsular plateaus in India we can found them in Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Kerela.
