Mawsynram , in Meghalaya is on the windward side of Garo, Khasi and Jantia hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon winds which has its path from the Bay of Bengal. Hence it receives the highest rainfall in the world.

Answer
Mawsynram is located in the Southern ranges of the Khasi hills in Meghalaya at a height of 1500 m above the sea level.
It receives the highest (annual 1140 cm)rainfall of the world because:-
➡ This place is enclosed by hills on three sides.
➡The relief features give this place funnel shaped location.
➡The Bay of Bengal monsoon is trapped in there hills. These winds try to get out of there, but are forced to pour down there.
