Mesta is basically a type of Kharif crop which is grown in Bangladesh alongside many other fibre crops such as jute and cotton.

Mostly, Mesta and a number of jute farming goes on in Madaripur, i.e. a district of central Bangladesh where it is easy growth, low cost of production and good bargain on prices available for the farmers.

Areas include regions of:  Sadar, Kalkini,Shibchar and Rajoir Upazila.
