Bile is yellowish brown coloured liquid which is secreted/ produced in the liver. It helps in the digestion and absorption of lipids. Certain fat soluble vitamins are also absorbed in the presence of bile. Bile breaks down large fat molecules into smaller ones, making them available to digestive enzyme - lipase proper digestion. In the absence of Bile, fats remain undigested in the body and are excreted from the body through faeces. Simultaneously, fat soluble vitamins also remain unabsorbed leading to deficiency disorders.

Bilirubin is a by product when red blood cells are synthesized in our body. Bile also helps in the excretion of bilirubin. This is because excess of bilirubin might lead to Jaundice.
