The electron transport chain is located in Inner mitochondrial membrane.

EXPLANATION

The electron transport chain is defined as the series of protein complexes that transfer electrons from electron donors to electron acceptors via redox reactions and couples this electro, transfer with the transfer of protons across a membrane. The electron chain is built up of peptides, enzymes and other molecules.

At the inner mitochondrial membrane, a high energy electron is passed along an electron chain. The energy released pumps hydrogen out of the matrix space .The gradient created by this drives hydrogen back through the membrane, through ATP synthase.

IN EUKARYOTES

The electron chain is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane.

IN PROKARYOTES

The electron chain is located in the plasma membrane.

Electrons moves through the electron transport from a higher energy level level to lower energy state and and are ultimately passed to oxygen.
