hi,
here is your answer,
The lions and tigers in US zoos - the legitimate ones - usually have a night house and/or an off tour area. These are usually quite small, a concrete/barred room with maybe a bench or piece of furniture, wooden platform, a water bowl and place for food, all that can be easily cleaned with a hose. This area is usually also protected against extreme weather. It may be heated or air conditioned for animals that require it. During zoo hours, the cats on display are sent outside and often cannot go back out of public view until the zoo closes. Sometimes cats hate this.

The tiger is kept in a cage in the zoo. It keeps walking a few steps in the cage.
- The poem ' A Tiger in the Zoo' is written by Leslie Norris.
- The poem talks about a tiger which is caged in the zoo and what the tiger feels if it was free to walk around in the forest.
- The poet tells us that the tiger quietly walks a few steps in the small cage in anger as it is helpless.
- The poet describes to us the bright yellow colour of its stripes and pads of velvet-like feet.
- The poet tells us that, if the tiger was free it would be wandering in the forest surrounded by trees and streams in search of its prey.
- The poet also imagines that the tiger would have been making fierce sounds and showing its sharp teeth and claws which would scare the village people.
- But in reality, the tiger is in the cage and even though it has its powers, they are suppressed and the tiger is helpless.
