  • Turan Lowland or Turan Plain , which is also translated as "Caspian Coast Lowland" by China, is a vast inland lowland in western Central Asia. The area is about 1.5 million square kilometers, including southwestern Kazakhstan and northwestern Uzbekistan , Turkmenistan , and Tajikistan .

Geographical view

Before the Tertiary Period , it was an ancient Mediterranean region, and it was only raised to land after the Miocene . Today, the Aral Sea in the north-central part of the lowland and the Caspian Sea in the west are the remnants of transgression. Turan Depression north of the Kazakh hills , east Tianshan Mountains , the Pamirs and Alai Mountains foothills, south of Kopet Dag Mountains (Kopet-Dag), west of the Caspian Sea east coast. There are large-scale deserts and salt marshes , among which the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan and the Kizilcum Desert , which spans Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, are two famous deserts in Central Asia. The two major inland rivers, the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya in Central Asia, flow from the southeast to the northwest through the territory and are injected into the Aral Sea . A narrow oasis is formed along the banks of the two rivers, which is a developed area for irrigated agriculture. The plains have mineral deposits such as oil and natural gas.

Climate

Because it is deep in the hinterland of the mainland, it is an inland area, and the southern mountains block the warm and humid air flow from the Indian Ocean . The Turan lowland belongs to a temperate continental arid climate . The average annual precipitation in the lowlands is less than 200 millimeters, and the desert near the Aral Sea and Turkmenistan is even less than 100 millimeters. However, the sun is abundant and the evaporation is large. Winter cold, summer heat, summer and winter, day and night temperature are larger.
