Ultrasound sound is used for the bats.

1.they can travel undeviated through a long distance.

2.they can be confined to a narrow beam.

3.they are not easily absorbed in a medium.

first of all, what's ultra sound?

frequencies higher than 20khz (20000hz) are called ultrasound or ultrasonic sound.

ultrasound is used in :-

⏺to clean parts where it's difficult to reach. examples - electronic components, odd shaped things etc. objects are placed in solution and then ultrasonic waves are passed through the solution. because of the higher frequencies, the dirt particles get detached. and thus the objects get cleaned this way.

⏺ ultrasound is also used to detect cracks which are invisible from outside. such as a block of a building has cracks inside but we can't see from outside. ultrasound helps to detect them by allowing them to pass through the blocks. if the ultrasound reflects back, it means there's crack inside.

next is echo. the repetation of sound due to it's reflection is called an echo. multiple echo arise because of multiple reflections if sound.

applications of echo -

⏹we know about SONAR (sound navigation and ranging) it consists a transmitter and a detector. the transmitter transmits ultrasonic waves and when it strikes with an object it reflects back. this is used to calculate the distance of the object (basically ship or boat).  &lt;p&gt;</p><p></p><p>⏹in stethoscopes, patient's heartbeat reaches to doctor's ear by multiple reflections (multiple echoes). &lt;/p&gt;
