I am sorry that it’s taken me so long to write to you but I finally decided to put pen to paper to explain why failed to return on time the book that I borrowed from you.
To be honest, I’ve been feeling so guilty that I delayed writing to you. I have to own up that I damaged your book accidentally while I was reading it. I am so very sorry. I know how important this book is to you as it was passed down from your late father.
What happened is that I had been reading up on the chapter about plumbing when I knocked over my cup of coffee and it splashed all over the book. As a result, there are a lot of coffee stains all over the book.
I have sent the book to be repaired. I did’t realized that it was even possible until I researched it. Anyway, hopefully, your book will be as good as new and I will get it back to you next week.
Again, I’m so sorry in the delay in telling you. Hope you can forgive me.
