Soul is not a chemical or physical form of substance. It is a cosmic invisible thing/form. Many theories believed that the soul lies in the heart or lungs or liver or in the brain. None of these theories are correct. Ancient indian sages(Rishis, Maharshi) through year long deep meditation confirmed the presence of soul which lies in the central part the of chest but not within heart or lungs. In the ancient Indian sanskrit texts or literature, the soul is referred as ‘AATMA’. The ‘Aatma’ is transparent, invisible, weightless, cosmic thing. Human eye or any optical instrument can't see it's presence. Ancient Hindu rishis and Maharishi realized and also visualized their own soul or ‘aatma’ through their ‘Yog-Sadhana’. Normal human beings don't possess that spiritual power to unfold the secrets of cosmic structure or activity. Soul is a matter associated with consciousness and it is beyond the scope of any modern science or scientist’s reach.

Technically i dont think soul lies in body. Its just our thoughts and our thinking way which change our mind of thinking. If it lies it would lie in our heart.
