Bengali ghee has a unique flavour and taste . This is because of the way it is prepared .Firstly it is made only of cow milk , no buffalo milk can be used otherwise flavour will be different .

Secondly , the ghee that we get elsewhere is for cooking, hardly that ghee is consumed directly elsewhere.

But Bengalis eat the raw ghee with rice and salt and is considered as a comfort food to auspicious offerings.

So this ghee is cooked beforehand, it means that while ghee is being made it is heated even longer.

Depending on the time for which heating continues, colour and flavour changes. Ghee prepared for longer time has unique dark colour and intense flavour.

This is what traditional Bengali ghee is .Jharna ghee is an old reputed brand, but I will not be able to say anything as this is a commercial product .
