In order to get justice regarding any product bought or service availed of, a consumer can approach the district consumer disputes redressal forum, state consumer disputes redressal commission or national consumer disputes redressal commission. If it is regarding a banking or insurance matter, the aggrieved customer may approach the banking ombudsman or the insurance ombudsman. In the case of matters of insurance, one can also approach the insurance regulatory and development authority.

In our daily lives, we become consumers through buying goods and services. As a consumer, we have much concern about the money, health, choice, and safety of the life. Since the market is dominated by sellers and there attiude towards consumers as a weaker section and influenced by false and misleading advertisements, contest and hoardings to appeal customers. The need to protect consumers from these led to the formation of consumers forums where their grievances can be heard, and their rights protected where the government is responsible for framing policies and ensure their implementation. When there is a defect, deficiency in service or unfair trade or overcharged price, then a consumer can seek or redressal to get justice.
