It is solid fossil fuel .
It is found in rock strata in layers called coal beds
It is composed of carbon maily and along with other elements such as hydrogen , oxygen , sulphur , nitrogen .
Coal exists in different forms like
lignite having low percentage of carbon .
sub bituminous and bitumious coal
anthracite having highest percentage of carbon more then 91.5%
