Pressure tends to decrease with altitude and increase with depth. So pressure due to water in sea in higher at bottom.

The Fluid pressure is the type of pressure which is applied by any fluid(liquid or gas) on any object immersed in it. The Sea water here is the fluid and it is asked that the pressure applied will be more - at the bottom or top?

  • The fluid pressure depends upon the height of the column of fluid above the object.
  • It doesn't depend upon area of the surface in contact and the shape of the column.
  • Infact based on point 1) The greater the depth, the greater is the pressure of the fluid.

❒ So, When we go deeper inside the sea, the pressure experienced will be more as compared to what the pressure of water we fill at the top.

Basically, Pressure is the magnitude of perpendicular force or normal force acting upon a unit area of the surface. The normal or perpendicular force is also known as Thrust.

The SI unit of Pressure is N/m²(Pascal). It is a scalar quantity, and we should always consider the perpendicular component of force instead of force vector. Another unit of Pressure is atm that is, the pressure exerted by atmosphere at sea level.
