Where the weight of a body be greater at the poles or at the equator and why?

The earth is not a perfect sphere rather it is an oblate sphere.

It's rather flat at the poles and bulged at the equator.

Now we also know that gravitational force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two bodies. Hence if a body is placed at the equator than the body will be farther from the equator and hence will be lighter. the opposite will be true for the body placed at the pole and it will be heavier.

The weight of the body is greater at the poles than the equator

the poles are closer to the centre of the earth in comparison to the equator which is bulging while the poles are flattened thus a greater force of attraction acts in the body when placed in the pole thus making the weight of the body maximum
