Dalit participation in Civil Disobedience Movement was limited because Congress had ignored Dalits for a long time because they didn't want to offend the conservative high-caste Hindus.

They demanded separate electorates for the Dalit community in legislative councils and reserved seats in educational institutions. So Dalit participation was limited especially in the Maharashtra and Nagpur region.

They did not participate in the movement due to Congress Policy. Many Dalits leaders stressed on demands but Gandhiji opposed it and finally Dr. B.R Ambedkar accepted his point nd resulted into Poona Pact which gave depressed classes as SC .
