shenai was a instrument which originated from pungi an instrument played in the Kings Court. Shenai was been played at temples, marriages ,functions etc... And Shenai was played during the Independence Day at red fort. And bismillah Khan was not the one who changed shennai to pungi it was a barber who changed it. The pungi was smaller than shennai comparatively .shennai had holes on it whereas pungi did not have. Shennai gave a pleasant music whereas pungi have a unpleasant noise

and by the way it was the barber who changed and not bismillah khan..
