What is the location of a job?

This question is either too broad and hence needs improvement or is so simple and straightforward I’m looking for too much from it.

A job’s location usually means where the job is performed. The vast majority of jobs are performed in a single, specific location: a workplace. In some cases, such as a field technician, the workplace varies because the work involves going to various locations and provide technical service to support a service. I used to hire people to do this in my first job in recruiting.

If you are looking at a job posting or job description and are unclear on the location of the job, this is a pretty serious error on the part of the job poster.

Job descriptions list the workplace or location because very few employers like hiring people who are not already close to the workplace. As a recruiter, I’ve seen too many employees reject an offer of employment because despite their assurances throughout the process, when push comes to shove, they just…don’t want to move. This happened to me last week, and frankly, I’m still angry at myself for believing the candidate would move.
