where were the Dutch present in India
Answers
hey mate...
Originally, during the 17th century, the main purpose of the Dutch to come to India was trade, exploration and colonization. But eventually they got interested in the Asian spices, especially from the southern parts of India and gained monopoly over the spice trade.
By 1598 the Dutch were sending out numerous trading ships and in March 1599 Jacob van Neck's fleet became the first to reach the Spice Islands of Indonesia. In 1602 the Dutch government sponsored the creation of the United East Indies Company in an effort to stabilize profits in the Dutch spice trade and form a monopoly.Dutch, however, were more dominant in Indonesia than in India.
