Hagia Sophia is in Istanbul, Turkey. It was built in 537 AD by Emperor Justinian I and was famous for its huge dome. It was considered as the most beautiful Christian church of Byzantine times. Until 1453, it was an Eastern Orthodox Cathedral. From 29 may 1453 till 1931, it was converted into an Ottoman mosque. Later it was converted into a museum and was opened on 1 February, 1935.
