Microbes cause infectious diseases such as flu and measles. There is also strong evidence that microbes may contribute to many non–infectious chronic diseases such as some forms of cancer and coronary heart disease. Different diseases are caused by different types of micro-organisms.

Examples of harmful Microorganisms: Harmful microorganisms include fungi, bacteria, protozoa, etc. They cause several diseases in human beings, animals, and plants which can even lead to death. The harmful microorganisms not only damage the human body but also the food we eat.

Microbes are used to reduce pollution. They are used to increase soil fertility by fixing atmospheric nitrogen. Microbes are also useful in preparing many medicines and antibiotics. Certain microbes are also used in the biological treatment of sewage and industrial effluents.

Useful Microorganisms include: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Aspergillus oryzae, L. plantarum, Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and Corynebacteria

micro organisms , though a large number can cause diseases in plants and animals , including humans . But all microbes arent harmful. a number of microbes are very useful, particularly in industries , agriculture and medicine. In fact, their beneficial effects are far more than the harm they cause.
