Hydrochloric acid is secreted by the stomach .

oversecretion can lead to acidity which further damages the mucus coating that prevents the stomach from the corrosive action of the acid resulting in gastric ulcers .

Hey there! Here is your answer! Hope it helps!

The acid that is produced by the stomach is Hydrochloric acid(Hcl). Excess production of acid could lead to acidity, could rupture the walls of stomach, produce a burning sensation and can sometimes even lead to ulcer. It's effect can be neutralised taking in antacids such as milk of magnesia Mg(OH)2 which is a mild base.
