THE ROWLATT ACT :
The rowlatt act was put into effect on 10th march 1919. According to this any person could be imprisoned without any trial.
- Protests were organised aganist this act, specially in Bengal.
- Two leaders Dr. Satya Pal and Dr. Saiffuddin were arrested on 10th April 1919.
- A meeting was organised at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on 13th April 1919 to protest aganist these arrests.
- General Dyer closed the only exit and without any warning, he started firing at the peaceful demonstrators.
- This killed and injured hundreds of people including women and children and came to be known as Jallianwala Bagh Massacre,
