Rowlatt Act gave the government power to suppress political activity. This act was passed in the year of 1919 on 10th March by Legislative Council in Delhi. This act was named after a British Judge Sidney Rowlatt.

Under this act if a person was suspected of any crime living in British India could get two years of imprisonment without a trial. This act was also authorized by government. A person who was convicted was required to give securities money upon their release.
