THE ABOVE ACT WAS PUT OUT BY THE BRITISH IN 1878 AFTER THE SECOND ANGLO - AFGHAN WAR. THIS ACT WAS TO CHECK AND GAIN CONTROL OVER THE INDIAN PRESSES AND VERNACULAR NEWSPAPERS TO AVOID SPREADING OF NEWS AND ARTICLES THAT CRITICIZED THE EAST INDIA COMPANY AND THE BRITAIN GOVERNMENT.
