Ram Singh, Sikh philosopher and reformer and the first Indian to use noncooperation and boycott of British merchandise and services as a political weapon. Ram Singh even appealed to Russia for aid in driving the British out of India, but Russia, not wishing to risk war with Great Britain, refused. Ram Singh spent the remainder of his days in prison and exile. After his release from prison, he was exiled to Rangoon, where he lived for almost 14 years as a state prisoner.

Hope it helps :)

Sat Guru Ram Singh Ji propelled his blessed war against the British on twelfth April 1857 by raising a white banner of opportunity and declared a program of extensive criticalness.

He gave a clarion call to the general population to blacklist taxpayer driven organizations, blacklist British run instructive establishments and law courts, blacklist outside made products and resist British laws.

Between 1857 and 1863, Sat Guru Ram Singh Ji lectured his message all through Punjab. His devotees swelled and developed in numbers. Sat Guru Ram Singh Ji's message electrifyingly affected the general population.

The British were impolitely shaken at the developing prevalence of Sat Guru Ram Singh Ji. They took extraordinary measures to check his exercises.
