Political parties play many roles in elections.
The true democracy is an essential part for the Development and Growth of any society. It only flourishes when the member of the society takes part in it actively.
So the major role that political parties play during the election process is that "they activate the people to participate in it"
Using one or the other mean, these parties convince people to cast their vote. They advertise for voting. They run door-to-door campaigns. They complete some welfare projects of localities only for one purpose that people cast the vote to their parties.
So the biggest result of their activities is increased turn-over of the voters.
