Acid rain occurs when pollutants from air get mixed with the rainwater and it causes many damages to living and non living factors of environment. The main cause of acid rain is the pollution produced by the burning of fossil fuels. Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are the major pullutants present in air that cause acid rain. These oxides of sulphur and nitrogen combine with rain water and form sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively.
