Animals such as Fish and Prawn breathe through gills.

In animals respiration takes place through different organs which include skin, body, gills, lungs, etc. Animals such as fishes and prawns use gills as organ of respiration. Mostly aquatic animals use the oxygen that is dissolved in water.

Gills are small projection of the skin which is involved in the intake of the dissolved oxygen in most aquatic animals. In gills, the exchange of gases occurs through the blood vessels located in them.
