This highway passes through many cities such as Kolkata, Kharagpur, Sambalpur, Mahasamund, Raipur, Durg, Bhandara, Nagpur, Amrawati, Akola, Bhusaval, Jalgaon,Dhule, Surat, Hazira and other small towns and cities. Length of this highway is 1949 Km (1211 miles). It is the second longest national highway in India after the national highway 7, which is 2369 Km long. The Kolkata-Hazira national highway is a very busy highway also.
