Option (a) is the correct option.
Marine life will be severely affected in the cold regions.

  • If the ice was denser than water, the ice will sink and the water from below will come up.
  • Now in cold regions, the water on the top will again freeze and become ice.
  • This ice will again sink, and the process will continue itself until a time will come when all the water will be converted to ice.
  • As a result of this the fish and other aquatic animals underneath the water will die.
  • This freezing of water will result in the depletion of temperatures to extremely low points.
  • Also, the marine life would be destroyed either because of the depletion in food resources or total cutoff of oxygen from the environment.
  • Depleting and finally eradicating the marine life.
So, if the ice became denser than water marine life will severely be affected in the cold regions.

Option (a) is the correct answer.
