The second expression is a polynomial.
For a quantity to be called as a polynomial, it must have all the powers of the variables as whole numbers.
(a) 2(x^½)+1
The degree is 1/2 which is not a whole number.
So, it can't be a polynomial.
(b) 3[x^(3/2)]÷√x
or [3.√x³]÷√x
= [3.x√x]÷√x
⇒3x is the final value of the expression, where the degree is 1 which is a whole number. So, its a polynomial.
