During the 19th and early 20th century, the tribals community stood against the British Administration in different parts of India
These uprisings helped in providing a spark in the freedom struggle of the country. The point of contention amongst the tribal community were against the exploitation by moneylenders and the petty government officials. When tribals failed to pay their loan or the interest , money-lenders and landlords took control of their lands resulting them to become tenants on their own land and sometimes even bonded labourers.
