- Antibiotics of the tetracycline group interact with 30S ribosomal subunits and prevent the binding of incoming aminoacyl-tRNA to the A site.
- However, this appears to occur after the initial binding of the elongation factor Tu–aminoacyl-tRNA complex to the ribosome, which is not directly affected by tetracyclines.
