Encroachment is one of the major threats to the lake and following the flow of raw sewage in its waters. The issue has resulted in serious obnoxious weed growth and algae blooms.

Answer:

Lily pads

Explanation:

Dal lake in the heart of Kashmir is one of the world’s lakes in danger of disappearance after its significant shrinking in the last 50 years.  Human encroachment, dumping wastes, and proliferation are the factors that have been noted to aggravate the situation. Lily pads are the most common weeds that have covered a huge part of the lake. The concerned stakeholders are being called upon to take a step towards the preservation of the lake in order to restore it to its original state.
