Milk of magnesia is a basic salt since it contains weak acid and strong base.

Magnesium hydroxide, also known as milk of magnesia is used in antacid to neutralize excess acid in our stomach.

Sodium carbonate too is a basic salt due to the combination of weak acid and strong base.

It reacts with acid to produce salt, water and co2. So it's a base in nature.

Compared to milk of magnesia, sodium carbonate is more basic in nature!
