Which are called as Noble gas or inert gas elements ? why are they called so ?

hellium , argon xenon etc and the gases of group 18 of the modern periodic table ... are called inert or noble gases as the last electron or the valence electrons in the last shell of thes inert gas element is either duplet or octect and we all know that an atom having duplet or octect in the last shel is always stable that is why the are called noblegases or inert gas element.

for example :-. Electronic configaration of hellium is 2 , so as I said the it has duplet in the valence shell or last shell. so it is a noble gas .... youcan also see the other elements of group 18 of the modern periodic table... and their electronic configaration.....

Noble gases belong to the 18th group of the periodic table. They include helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon and radon. They are called inert gases because they are stable and non-reactive.
