Specific heat is defined as amoun of heat required to raise the temperature of unit mass of substance through unit temperature.S=Q/mΔT

It gives us an idea of the degree of " Reluctance " of a substance to change its temperature.

Substances with high low specific heat like metals can be used in making of utensils.
Substances with high specific heat like water can be used as heat reservoir..

When the temperature is raised off the substance it is known as a specific heat, the heat is set according to the required heat in order to make a specific substance or a material.

Water has a really high specific heat because it absorbs a lot of hot water in order to increase 1 celsius because water is known as an intrinsic property. Which is why the swimming pools stay cool even in the summers because of the specific heat property for water.

Other materials which have high specific heat are used as good insulators the example of this can be wood, the houses made of wood, keep the environment inside the house cool in summers.
