There is a great dive centre in Queenscliff (just past Geelong, about 1.5 hrs from Melbourne) where they do many different trips during the day. www.queenscliffdivecentre.com.au/

You can see availability etc and look at where the dives go. Was down there at the weekend and its a great setup. You can even stay there for $40 a night i think. Well worth having a look as they do all sorts of different dives.
