#1. Fables and moral stories
Fable is a French word which means moral tale (usually a short story). They convey lessons in life and inspire students to be more principled. We all have read and relished these stories in our childhood.
Some examples are:
The Fox and The Crow. by Aesop. Moral: Do not trust flatterers.
The Tortoise and the Hare. by Aesop.
The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. by Aesop.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf. by Aesop.
The Miser. by Aesop. Classic fable
The Ant and the Grasshopper. by Aesop. Classic fable.
I strongly recommend Panchatantra - the oldest collection of Indian fables.
#2. Books of wisdom
One should surely go through his Math, Science and Social books for gaining knowledge. They make students well-informed and enlightened.
I recommend Vedic Mathematics and Concrete Mathematics.
#3. Novels that portray life
The life and events of characters in these stories make us more mature. But I still don't recommend novels that stray children from the real world or turn them into rebels.
Let Me Explain You. by Annie Liontas.
The Madonnas of Echo Park. by Brando Skyhorse.
