Types of remote sensing

1. Active Remote Sensing- In Active Remote sensing, the operating instruments do not use the reflected source of light, instead, they use their own built in sources to emit light. Each instrument directly gives the signal to the object and then registers its response. Example- Radar, Lidar, Laser Altimeter etc.
2. Passive Remote Sensing- In Passive Remote sensing, the operating instruments are dependent on the reflective surfaces to emit the light rays. They capture the natural light (sunrays) which bounces off from the target. Examples - Spectrometer, Radiometer, Hyperspectral radiometer, Accelerometer etc.
