The frog asserted his importance by blowing his own trumpet. He flaunts his reign, and thus, power and supremacy in Bingle Bog. He introduced himself as the owner of the sumac tree the nightingale was sitting on; he further told her that he had been the famous singer of the bog who was known for his baritone. He also told her that he also composed ‘Bog Trumpets’ regularly. The inexperienced nightingale was easily impressed by the frog. She did not know that the cunning frog was going to exploit her and be the cause of her downfall and death.
