The Saptanga Theory:
According to Kautilya, a state has seven elements or constituents, namely, Swamin— the King, Amatya—the Minister, Janapada—the Land, and the People, Durga—the Fortress, Kosha—the Treasury, Danda—the Army and Mitra—the Allies.

In the Arthshashtra (Economics) of Kautilya, he described the seven elements of the state.
7 elements of Saptanga Theory (Organ or elements).
- The swami,
- The Amatyas,
- The Janapada,
- The Durgas,
- The Kosha,
- The Danda,
- The Mitra and
- The enemy. (The eight organ is added by Kautilya Later.)
