Government is working only to educate the future generation with Right to Education act, Sarva shiksha Abiyan, Beti bachao- Beti Badao, Child marriage prevention act etc.
Punjab and Karnataka has announced free education for girls till their graduation and PG. If all the stes follow them it will be good for India. In TN many govt arts colleges are opened with very less fees. Free passes for students provided. Becoing a post graduate is a easy one now a days.
The elderly people who all missed education in their child hood, contribute more in the illiterate percentage. We cant change that. But we can ensure no one child is missed out.
The condition in northern states are very poor. Basic schooling structures, lunch at school, drinking water, toilets are not provided or insufficient. Casteism also a barrier. Economical inequality is high. Many NGOs working on this appreciably. Akshaya patra, Teach for India etc.
A Ideal government must make and maintain infrastructure for basic education sufficiently everywhere. Drinking Water, toilet with water, free lunch, transport subsidy passes, concrete buildings, qualified teachers, Sanitary pads for girls must be provided. Education must be free for all till secondary schooling. Free for women till graduation.
Within 1 year we can do everything. It is not a complicated task. State governments must be criticised, but Union govt cannot hand wash its responsibilty.
