Southern India is well known for its innumerable temples of various eras as well as architectural styles. Majority of the famous temples are located in Tamil Nadu and Kerala where the great Chola rulers and the Travancore Kings built immensely big and beautiful temples dedicated to various Gods. Majority of the temples are dedicated to the various forms of Shiva, Vishu and Devi. Given below are some of the very famous temples of South India and the state where it is located:
