The Natural vegetation with the features can be describes in three categories as follows:


FORESTS


Tropical Evergreen Forests:

Tropical rainforests,

Regions near the equator close to the tropics,

receive heavy rainfall,

no dry season,

trees do not shed leaves together

Tropical Deciduous Forests:

Tropical deciduous monsoon forests,

seasonal changes,

trees shed leaves in dry season to conserve water

Hardwood trees are found here

Temperate Evergreen Forests:

Mid Latitudinal coastal region,

Common along the eastern margin of the continents

Temperate Deciduous Forests:

North eastern part of USA, China, New Zealand, Chile and also found in coastal regions of Western Europe

They shed their leaves in dry season

Mediterranean Vegetation:

Areas around Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa and Asia

Hot dry summer

Mild rainy winters

Coniferous Forests

Also called as Taiga forests

found at higher latitudes(50º-70º) in northern hemisphere

Tall softwood evergreen trees

GRASSLANDS


Tropical grasslands:

grow on either sides of the equator,

Areas of moderate to low amount of rainfall,

Grasses about 3 to 4 metres

Temperate grasslands:

Found in the mid latitudinal zones and in interior part of continent,

grasses are short and nutritious

SHRUBS


Thorny bushes:

Desert areas

vegetation is scarce,

scanty rain

scorching heat
